I am a respectful foreigner intent on enjoying the remainder of the week in Tokyo. However, I'm looking to enjoy some things that are not your typical touristy places. This could be anything to a cool club that plays good trance music to an interesting shrine with some cool rigmarole.
What I'm hoping for is for real Japanese citizens to reveal something they'd like for a visitor to experience that the more corporate and state-sanctioned places won't be telling me about.

Anyways, I personally recommend the cat island, Tashirojima. Maybe it's because I'm a cat fag, though. Go to the shrines around where you'll be staying. Have a vibrant Nigerian character show you a good time in roppongi, they move in clusters and are difficult to miss come evening. Or do what I did last night and miss a last train connection and pay a small fortune getting back to the other side of the city. My driver said he owns a race horse. Cool guy. But seriously, Tokyo is awesome. I've never come here with a plan, it's a pleasure just walking around and coming across something unexpected at times. Today I discovered moomin house cafe. |
